
Design Criteria

Designed as an app or computer program that can be accessed via a user’s personal device.

Have a way to report data from the app to ensure user satisfaction and a challenging, but feasible escape.

Have a strong entertaining storyline/plot that integrates puzzles in such a way as to keep users engaged for 20-30 min.

Have multifaceted puzzles that engage and challenge 14-15 years olds and possibly their families.

Includes a clock feature that keeps track of the time users take to complete each puzzle and to escape.

Have hints that can be accessed when requested by the user, but enacts a time penalty if used.

Have persistent data displayed as a leaderboard to promote users’ sharing of placement and experience.

Have metacognitive data that includes the average solving time for each puzzle, as well as a survey regarding the user’s experience with the escape room.

Have the ability to enter a username, which will also show up on the leaderboard.

Have instructions that show how certain buttons function, like an info page.

Have artistic creativity/look to make the app unique and appealing.

Have media, music, images, sound effects, etc that correlate with the theme.
